Child Neglect
Child Neglect
Daycare abuse takes on several different forms, which could be passive or intentional. While the intentional actions, such as physical or emotional abuse are those which are often recognized and tried in criminal courts, child neglect can also be just as devastating on a child. Children, and especially babies, rely almost totally on adults to ensure they are appropriately fed, clothed, and supervised throughout the day. The lack of care throughout the day could have harmful and terrifying consequences on a child at a daycare center.
CHILD NEGLECT
Child neglect can quickly lead to physical abuse and emotional abuse in a daycare. As parents, we enroll our children in daycare facilities because we do not have the time or ability to appropriately watch our children during the day. When we find out that the daycare facility we are paying to watch our children is in fact neglecting our children, it is devastating for both the parents and the child. Unfortunately, the realization of child neglect only comes to light after an accident occurs.
Child neglect can lead to the following:
- Injuries at daycare because of lack of supervision
- Direct physical abuse by another child or staff member
- Missed meals
- Lack of diaper changes
Any of these instances of child neglect can enrage parents, especially when they think their child is well taken care of throughout the day.
DAYCARE ABUSE CLAIMS
Child neglect claims can be brought against the daycare center and the staff member responsible for the instance of child neglect. Child neglect claims are just as terrible as physical abuse claims which occur at daycare facilities, and should be brought to the public eye. Your child and your family have suffered due to the actions of a daycare employee, and this employee, as well as the daycare center, should be held financially responsible for their actions.
Extreme instances of child neglect may also result in criminal charges, which can be brought concurrently with civil claims. While it is rewarding for parents to see their child’s abuser appropriately brought to justice in a criminal court setting, it does not compensate the family for the harm which was done to their child. A civil claim is often calculated by an experienced attorney who will take into consideration the type of neglect, any physical abuse, and the emotional toll of the child neglect.
